Kirby Sams

Kirby has been President of Kirby’s Professional Training, Inc. in Austin, Texas since 1991.  He has always been involved with movement, crawling until twenty-two months before walking.  He played on the local playground until “organized sports” and “Little Olympics” in fifth grade.  In Junior High School, depending on the season, he played football, basketball and track.  He became very good at football, enough to get an athletic scholarship to the University of Michigan.  He was injured his sophomore year and partially paralyzed.  Although he didn’t realize it at the time, he used the guidelines of OS, diaphragmatic breathing, vestibular motions and cross midline movement crawling, to restore his body to the way it was meant to be.

Kirby was a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist from 1971-1991.  He worked in private and public institutions with populations including seniors, adults, adolescents and children with varying degrees of mental illness.  He is currently a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.  He is  SFG1 Kettlebell Certified, TRX Suspension Training Certified, Functional Movement Systems Level 1 Certified, and of course, an Original Strength Certified Pro.  He works with all populations, however he particularly enjoys changing the lives of people over the age of fifty.
