An Austin native, Lisa Anne Kobdish completed her BFA in Dance from UT Austin, and later received an MA in Dance Performance from the Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London. Included in her travels in 2013, she spent 5 weeks on an ashram in Nashik, India becoming certified to teach traditional Hatha Yoga practices. After time abroad, Lisa moved to New York to work and perform in the contemporary dance community, and now strives to keep a bi-coastal status between the two cities of her heart, Austin and NYC.
Lisa has nearly 10 years experience instructing barre and Pilates-inspired group fitness, and is a certified instructor with Peak Pilates®. She has taught bootcamp-style HIT classes with local company Motiv8, and more recently at Generator Athlete Lab. She also enjoys instructing spin classes and is an avid city cyclist (commuting to work on two wheels and two thighs!).
Outside of her teaching life, Lisa is a company member with both Kathy Dunn Hamrick Dance Company and Blue Lapis Light, and enjoys performing as a freelance dancer with other Austin-based companies. She also works as Administrative Assistant to Austin Dance Festival, and is the co-Producer of it’s film screening event Dance on Film.
