Book with Joseph

Joseph Ramirez began his practice in 1996 as a graduate of Austin School of Massage Therapy. His skill set includes deep tissue, trigger point, sports, and Ayurvedic Marma energy point massage. Joseph’s talent lies in his ability to integrate deeper, more intense work with the subtle but profound balancing aspects of Marma energy points to assist therapeutic shifts in the body. He often also incorporates stretching, and excels working with scalp, hand, and foot massage. In addition to bodywork, Joseph enjoys writing, tennis, music, and travel.
How long have you been a licensed massage therapist?

24 years.

How many hours of training do you have?

Approximately 600 hours.

Why did you choose massage therapy as your career?

When I was young I would go with my grandfather to physical therapy after each knee surgery, and was impressed that with massage and stretching he was able to walk again.

Where did you go to school for massage?

Austin School of Massage.

How do you describe your massage/work to others?

Creative and intuitive, with a combination of Eastern and Western modalities. I’m often told I have very strong hands, and give the best foot and scalp massage.

What are some examples of Continuing Education you are interested in and why?

I’ve learned a number of modalities over the years, and at this point in my career I’m interested in honing my craft on those techniques, as opposed to adding new things to the mix.

How has receiving massage affected you personally?

I’ve become more in tune with my own body and spirit. Massage makes me more aware of my own health.

What do you do to stay healthy?

I enjoy playing tennis, hiking with my dog, and an occasional yoga class. And vegetables.

What do you like about working at Myo Massage?

I like the challenge of keeping up with the standards that Myo sets for quality therapy!
