Since July 2018

How many hours of training do you have?

Over 500

Why did you choose massage therapy as your career?

I sensed that massage therapy was something I should learn about as I was exploring different options of learning. I had friends that encouraged me to go to school and get a license.  It turns out that I’m naturally equipped for it to become a profession of mine.

Where did you go to school for massage?

A New Beginning School of Massage in Austin, TX

How do you describe your massage/work to others?
My work has evolved to be very direct and efficient. At this time in my career I’ve developed somewhat of a lead arm, which I joke about, but using deeper and controlled levels of pressure is currently where I shine.
I’m highly sensitive when feeling into layers of muscle that need contact or exploration.
I love problem solving and dedicating time in an area of muscle until tension is cleared out or at least has more mobility.
I’m intuitive and I am able to feel where energy in the body needs to be released or placed back to where it belongs.
I especially like working with athletes, martial artists, or people with injuries or chronic pain as these cases require consistency, a creative approach and a lot of compassion combined towards reaching a goal of progression or performance.
What are some examples of Continuing Education you are interested in and why?
I’m interested in learning lighter touch therapies like craneo sacral or lymphatic drainage to give my intuitive abilities more structure to apply to. I also want to delve deeper into anatomy and pain management since it’s so rewarding.
What do you do to stay healthy?
I take walks, do simple exercises at home. You might find me at a belly dancing class. I also strongly believe that as a creative I need to be expressing myself through music and some form of art regularly! Meditation is a daily practice as well that has amazing results and just makes life easier for me.
How has receiving massage affected you personally?
It’s helped me understand how pain and physical discomfort can cloud our perception and experiences. Being relieved of physical pain in our body can free up mental capacity to do more in life. It’s also transformative and healing to have full focus and attention on ourselves through massage for a time. I’m a happier person and what I put out in the world is higher quality when I’ve had my cup filled with massage.
What do you like about working at Myo Massage?
It’s built by and for massage therapists. The process of working here has been so easy and the owners and admin staff are considerate and do everything possible to create a dependable environment for both the therapists and clients.
