Vanessa Wilson has been a massage therapist for 19 years. She chose massage therapy as a profession after she began working in a physical therapy office as a tech. This is where she was introduced soft tissue manipulation, pain relief, passive range of motion, cervical traction, E-Stim, site specific massage and patient management. She enjoys the opportunity to help others in a variety of healthy and holistic ways. Not only physically but psychologically as well.

Why did you choose massage therapy as your career?
I chose massage therapy as a profession after I began working in a physical therapy office as a Tech. This is where I was introduced soft tissue manipulation, pain relief, passive range of motion, cervical traction, E-Stim, site specific massage and patient management. I found out that I loved the dynamic of helping people on such a level, so I went to school for it. I love that I get the opportunity to help others in a variety of healthy and holistic ways. Not only physically but Psychologically as well. Becoming a massage therapist has been a blessing and a gift with so many avenues for healing.

How do you describe your massage/work to others?
I would describe my work as fluid, therapeutic and thorough. I always inform my clients that I have heavy hands and to always communicate with me about their needs.
What are some examples of Continuing Education you are interested in and why?
CEU’S- Aromatherapy, MFR, Triggerpoint, Prenatal, Hot Stone, Thai and have a background in pain management.
What do you do to stay healthy?
As for staying healthy, I walk everywhere, or ride a bike. I love yoga, strength training , anything active really. I love the outdoors.
How has receiving massage affected you personally?
Receiving massage for me personally has been quite the journey. From relaxation and stress relief to pain management and addressing injuries that I have had. Massage has helped in a multitude of ways mentally as well. With the stressors and hard times that life can wield us, I have found that massage has helped softened some of the blows.
What do you like about working at Myo Massage?
I love working for Myo because it is a well run establishment with very seasoned professional therapists. The environment and energy is inviting, calming and drama free. Myo is a very reputable and solid place to practice.
