Book with Rachael

Greetings! I have been a massage therapist here in Austin, TX since 2008 and am lucky enough to be continuing the journey! It is incredibly rewarding to help folks along on their own path, and to offer a respite from the pressures of life. I look forward to working with you!
How long have you been a licensed massage therapist?

15 years

How many hours of training do you have?

My initial program was 500 hours. I then continued with a 250 clinical massage program. After 15 years of continuing education, that brings in another 350 hours!

Why did you choose massage therapy as your career?

I grew up with a nurse mom who used massage to calm and treat us, and a family friend who was a career LMT. As a young adult living rurally in ‘intentional community’, I used and abused my body…and it caught up with me! Massage therapy was one of the things that helped me through it, and I wanted to  get involved!

Where did you go to school for massage?

Lauterstein-Conway Massage School.

How do you describe your massage/work to others?

Grounded, calming, focused in areas and spots that need it, but with a lens for the bigger picture. Patient at an intuitive depth.

What are some examples of Continuing Education you are interested in and why?

I am really interested in women’s/womb health, endocrine health, and in working more with children. I am currently in herbalism school with a focus on hormone health.

How has receiving massage affected you personally?

Massage therapy has helped me on every level-physically with acute and chronic pain, emotionally with stress and long-held tension, spiritually with relaxing and opening up to the unknown.

What do you do to stay healthy?

Currently I am working on eating for blood-sugar balance, and I always love to cook and eat vibrant food. I balance the tension patterns created by this job with yoga and strengthening, and I spend a good amount of time outside walking and enjoying the breezes!

What do you like about working at Myo Massage?

Myo is a great place to work. The environment is reliably comfortable and well-run. The people are amazing, and I am grateful to have found it!
