My passion for massage therapy comes from 15 years of work experience as a geriatric medical social worker, helping to promote the well-being of individuals in challenging life situations. Having become a mother to two rambunctious boys, and then surviving cancer, I decided it was time to take my life in a new direction. It became my mission to switch my focus to building Zen into my own life, as well as those around me, utilizing massage to relieve pain, reduce stress, and improve overall well-being.
How long have you been a licensed massage therapist?

Since 2019, but I took 2 years off during covid

How many hours of training do you have?

500+ basic training (+MLD 50.5, Oncology 37, Pre and perinatal 32, Ashiatsu 56, cupping 2, Thai 18, TMJ 6)

Why did you choose massage therapy as your career?

This is my second career. I was formerly a geriatric social worker for 15 years. But it’s a very high stress field, and I started to have too much chaos and stress in my home life, so I switched to a career that would bring more zen into my life.

Where did you go to school for massage?

Lauterstein-Conway

How do you describe your massage/work to others?

I enjoy wonderous variety, building customized massages utilizing a combination of techniques from a variety of modalities with the intent to relieve pain, reduce stress, and improve overall well-being.

What are some examples of Continuing Education you are interested in and why?

I want to learn everything! I’d love to take the Ashiatsu advanced weekend workshop with Jenny Spring.  I’d love to take more NLPR workshops with Robert Gardner.  I’m very interested in taking classes in medical massage. I want to learn more about scar work. I would like to hone my skills in deep tissue and learn more about treating specific ailments. I’d like to take a refresher pre and perinatal massage class to better help with specific pregnancy related maladies. I would love to take the anatomy trains course. I want more training in cupping. I would like to learn more about pain management. I’m like a sponge. Everytime I take a class I feel like I level up!

How has receiving massage affected you personally?

I have always enjoyed touch. I’m a hugger. My whole life, my favorite thing has been when somebody (usually my mom) will “skrittle” (a word my dad made up to describe a cross between scratching and tickling – sort of nerve strokes, when someone drags their nails over someones skin)  my back and arms and legs. Recently my nervous system has been out of whack, so I’ve been finding a lot of relief from very deep work. I don’t receive enough body work. I also love to receive body work because it keeps me in tune with what feels good, and what is effective.

What do you do to stay healthy?

When the weather is nice I love to walk and hike, and occasionally jump rope. I like to swim, and I’ve done a lot of dancing in my life (folk, contra, country, israeli, ballroom, latin, swing, ballet, tap). I used to do a lot of snow skiing and rock climbing, but not so much lately. I also enjoy group fitness classes at the gym. All Les Mills all the time!

What do you like about working at Myo Massage?

I haven’t even gotten started yet, but I’m really looking forward to the opportunities for personal and professional growth. I’m looking forward to doing more functional/structural massage than I do when I work in a spa environment. I’m also excited about the chill dress code.
