Why did you choose massage therapy as your career?
I initially went to school for athletic training, but I did not feel that it fit me, so I took a step back reevaluated and talked to a sports massage therapist who worked with my undergrad track team. I did some shadowing with him and knew I wanted to have a career where I worked with my hands. I knew I wanted to do something with sports and medicine, and massage therapy just fit the bill. Once I started the schooling for it and learning, everything just flowed together and it was a natural instinct that I had with massage.

What are some examples of Continuing Education you are interested in and why?
I’m continuing to expand my knowledge in sports massage, medical massage, and other therapeutic modalities. I believe these areas of training will better support my passion for problem-solving and help others recover from both chronic and acute injuries, as well as muscle discomfort. I’m fascinated by how muscles move and function. With these modalities and ongoing education, I can stay informed about the latest advancements, keeping my skills sharp and up-to-date. This allows me to continually add new tools to my practice. I also enjoy having specific tasks to focus on—whether it’s resolving issues or creating a progressive plan—and seeing the results come to life. Continuing education in these fields will keep me on track and motivated.
What do you do to stay healthy?
I work out by going to the gym, walking, running or I may go hiking with my dog and I try to eat healthy. While also taking lots of naps, being well rested.
How do you describe your massage/work to others?
How has receiving massage affected you personally?
Ironically, I had never received massage before, it was not until I went to school for it. From then on it has been changing and improving my life tremendously. Receiving massage has helped me mentally relax, eases my anxiety, and my tendency to overthink things. I have Scoliosis, I get migraines, Headaches that lead to migraines, the massages I receive rejuvenates, rehydrates (in a sense), provides tension Relief from muscle spasms due to the scoliosis. When I have my migraines, I get cranialsacral work done on me. Thankfully in doing that majority of the time it takes the headaches away and that’s a huge relief obviously.
So overall massage has been a gift to me and it helps me recover from what I also put out physically through my own work in trying to help others.

I like that it goes beyond your typical spa setting, I feel that it’s very inviting. My coworkers seem well, rounded kind, knowledgeable decent human beings who all just want to come together with the same mindset and goal of helping others.
