How long have you been a licensed massage therapist?
Over 10 years (licensed since 2013).
How many hours of training do you have?
750-hour diploma from Cortiva Institute. With at least 100 more from continuing education over the years
Why did you choose massage therapy as your career?
I have a passion for helping those in need, and found that massage therapy has been that avenue for me. It’s the perfect blend of physical and mental work that allows me to help alleviate pain from people’s daily lives.
Where did you go to school for massage?
Cortiva Institute, Federal Way, WA.
How do you describe your massage/work to others?
My work is very specialized depending on the needs of my clients on a given day. Our bodies are constantly changing so is my style on a case by case basis. Typically like to get clients in a state of relaxation before incorporating deeper neuromuscular and myofascial techniques and finishing with some mobility or stretching techniques on a given area.
What are some examples of Continuing Education you are interested in and why?
I have interests in sports medicine, structural integration, graston technique and PT related courses. I want to not only be able to fix people on my table but give them more credentialed insight for at home treatments as well.
How has receiving massage affected you personally?
Massage Therapy was my first and one of the most impactful parts of my selfcare. It’s helped me through many chronic and injury related pains as well as bringing awareness to my whole body in general that I didn’t have most of my life.
What do you do to stay healthy?
Mobility exercises, stretching, regular bodywork, weight training, hiking, biking.
What do you like about working at Myo Massage?
Myo fosters an environment that allows me to do my best work. GIving time and space to really focus on each client’s needs instead of pushing products or extra addons for numbers. It really feels like they have the best interest for helping clients and therapists alike.
