How long have you been a licensed massage therapist?

3 years

How many hours of training do you have?

500 hours + 45 hours CE

Why did you choose massage therapy as your career?

I chose massage therapy for many reasons. I chose it because I was always interested in the human body and wanted to do work that involved that.

I also chose this career because I feel rewarded when I serve the community & help people. I wanted to do that in a one-on-one setting that would not be overstimulating for me. I had healing to do myself at one point in my life, and I knew this would be a great avenue for finding practices that would help me do that.

Also for the popular reasons of  having a flexible schedule and the option to wear the clothes I am most comfortable wearing.

Where did you go to school for massage?

Lauterstein-Conway Massage School

How do you describe your massage/work to others?

Slow & targeted. Intentional.

What are some examples of Continuing Education you are interested in and why?

I’m interested in taking CE for Ashiatsu as it can help prolong my massage career. I want to reach deeper levels of tissue without wrecking my upper body.

Cranio-Sacral Therapy is another CE I am interested in because I think a collaborative session with that modality and MLD would be highly effective in healing trauma that is rooted deeply from emotional or mental disturbances and causing physiological issues and/or chronic pain. It would be a great addition to the office I currently work in with a C1-2 specialist chiropractor as we have shared clients/patients.

What do you do to stay healthy?

I eat my colors & avoid processed food as much as I can. I get massages, do cold plunges/ice baths, & sauna.

I drink adrenal cocktails to manage mineral depletion during stress responses, lift weights, rock climb, run, spend time outdoors, & do yoga. I spend an equal amount of time with my loved ones as well as with myself. I allow space for imperfection and forgive myself. I practice gratitude and journal daily.

How has receiving massage affected you personally?

Receiving massage helped me learn how to better communicate my needs with others, both inside a session room and outside. It’s also a great way for me to gauge what something feels like that I might be practicing on a client.

What do you like about working at Myo Massage?

Clean, organized environment with a good music selection and quality products.

The business offers more than massage and is geared towards getting the clients the results they need by hiring therapists with the niche modalities and a deeper understanding of how the body functions. I’m excited to learn from the therapists here!
